ADVANCED Veterinary Assistant 3+ Years Experience

Berwick Animal Hospital is a privately-owned, companion animal, full-service, general veterinary practice, seeking an educated, passionate and Advanced Veterinary Assistant for a full-time or part-time position. Applicants must be excited about client education and preventative healthcare, as well as be flexible to move from wellness care to sick and emergency or surgical care throughout the day and week and excel or be eager to train in independent case management and medical record keeping. The best candidates must fit the following criteria :

*Act as the veterinarian’s primary medical support through each patient’s exam, treatment plan and/or hospitalization

*Excel at case management and medical record keeping.

*Proficient in knowledge of common vaccinations and vaccination protocols, preventative wellness care standards, common diseases and medications

*Experienced with clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, cytology, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; blood draws for laboratory analysis, proper medical record keeping, animal restraint, SQ, IM and IV injection administration, Emergency Care, critical care, hospitalization care

*Proficient in patient handling, animal restraint for streamlined medical procedure facilitation, radiology, ultrasound, sedation, surgery etc.
