Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership in maintaining safety, quality and efficiency throughout the department.
- Monitors production and labor efficiencies to ensure that Company standards are met and maintains proper production practices.
- Direct supervision of four Production Supervisors.
- Directs all production activities through the Production Supervisors, as a member of the Plant Manager’s staff, coordinates interdepartmental activities with other department managers.
- Plans department expense budget and the method of operation to remain within the budget and assures cost control and cost improvement projects.
- Monitors and controls labor, regrind levels, and material variances.
- Determine proper utilization of workforce based on production demands.
- Conducts daily production meetings and communicates with all departments to direct support group activities.
- Adherence to quality standards established by the Company to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Trains and develops production personnel.
- Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
- Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.
- Serve as the back up to the Plant Manager.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years experience leading a manufacturing department with proven results.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees
- Bachelors Degree in Management/Business, preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in manufacturing supervisory role with a proven track record in leading manufacturing teams.
- Experience with Quality Systems and Programs
- Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices, LEAN Manufacturing, 5's, World Class Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include holidays and weekends.
- Strong Computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications.
