Position Overview:
The Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach will support the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach in all aspects of the high school wrestling program. This position is responsible for helping create a positive, competitive, and development-focused experience for student-athletes. The successful candidate will assist in building a program culture that promotes excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and character.

The Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach will:
- Assist the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach with all aspects of the varsity wrestling program.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of a clear program vision and culture.
- Develop student-athletes both on and off the mat.
- Assist with practice planning, skill development, conditioning, scouting, match preparation, and competition management.
- Help teach wrestling fundamentals, advanced techniques, rules, strategy, and competitive expectations.
- Support offseason program opportunities, including skill development, strength and conditioning, camps, clinics, and summer wrestling opportunities.
- Help build participation and enthusiasm for wrestling throughout the district.
- Support alignment between the high school, middle school, and youth wrestling programs.
- Promote and support multi-sport participation while helping student-athletes maximize their potential.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with players, parents, coaches, administrators, officials, and community members.
- Maintain accurate records and complete assigned administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with the school's strength and conditioning program to enhance student-athlete development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to teach wrestling while holding student-athletes to high standards.
- Thorough understanding of wrestling fundamentals, technique, rules, strategy, and athlete development.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching, competing, or leadership positions.
- Previous wrestling coaching experience preferred.
- Experience supporting or helping build a successful wrestling program.
- Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes of varying skill levels.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to commit to in-season and offseason responsibilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain.
- MHSAA CAP Certification, or willingness to obtain.
