What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT & AI Systems Specialist — Multi-Location Support | Sarasota, FL position at Berlin Patten Ebling, PLLC?
Why this role
Own the technology backbone of one of Florida's leading multi-office law firms — and help shape how we integrate AI into our operations. You'll keep the infrastructure humming across our offices, troubleshoot the hardware/software/network issues that hit a modern law firm daily, and lead the charge on AI tools and automation that actually move the needle. This is a role built for someone who's technically sharp and forward-thinking — and comfortable being the go-to person when something breaks at 4pm on a Friday.
What you'll do
IT infrastructure and support. Manage and maintain IT infrastructure across multiple office locations. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues on-site and remotely. Ensure data security, backups, and compliance with firm IT policies. Provide end-user support and training on systems and tools. Coordinate with vendors and manage IT-related projects.
AI tools and automation. Implement and support AI tools and automation solutions to improve business processes. Partner with firm leadership to identify high-value AI integration opportunities — document automation, analytics, workflow automation, and emerging use cases. Lead proof-of-concept projects and scale what works.
Multi-site presence. Travel regularly between BPE offices to maintain system consistency and step in when on-site presence is required. You're the person who makes sure the Venice office has the same seamless tech experience as Sarasota.
What we're looking for
You bring 3–7 years of IT support or systems administration experience and are genuinely comfortable with AI tools, automation platforms, or machine learning applications — not just in theory, but in practice. You have strong foundational knowledge in networking, cloud systems (AWS, Azure, or similar), and cybersecurity best practices. You're a strong problem-solver and communicator who can explain technical issues to non-technical users without making them feel stupid. You can work independently, manage multiple locations, and prioritize when three offices need you at once. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Valid driver's license required.
Strongly preferred: hands-on experience implementing AI-driven workflows (chatbots, document automation, analytics tools); scripting or programming experience (Python, PowerShell); project management background; or prior experience in a law firm, title company, or regulated professional services environment.
Role logistics
This is a multi-location role with regular travel between BPE offices. Expect to be on-site at multiple offices each week rather than desk-bound in one location. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required for system maintenance, upgrades, or incident response.
What we offer
Send your resume and a brief note about an AI or automation project you implemented (or scaled) that produced measurable results. If you have a GitHub or portfolio, include it. Please email Jennifer Youngblood, HR Director at jyoungblood@berlinpatten.com. We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond within a week.
