to the Purchasing Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Technicians, Utility
workers, and Custodians to ensure expected level of performance is met
by resolving conflicts and adjusting schedules and work assignments as
needed. This position is responsible for providing solutions to the
challenges of personnel, materials, and space. The Director oversees the
fleet maintenance and building and facility maintenance through
efficient and cost-effective operations to ensure safe, on-time, clean
and reliable service to our community and passengers. This position has
oversight and approval of purchases for parts and equipment for the
maintenance department. The Director ensures maximum availability of
buses to meet service commitments by establishing servicing priorities
for all work in the areas of running, repair/inspection, and servicing.
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random
testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol
regulations. Position Requirements Applicants must: - High school
diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred. - Be eligible to be
insured under Berkshire Transit Management, Inc.\'s vehicle liability
insurance policy for duration of employment. - Pass a pre-employment
drug and alcohol test. - Pass a pre-employment DOT physical. - Minimum
of 5 years Master-level mechanic experience and minimum of 3 years of
experience in maintenance supervision of ten or more mechanics. - Be
able to lift 20 to 50 lbs. - Excellent written and oral communication
Skills. - Industry Experience Repairing And Maintaining Diesel Engines
and school bus equipment is preferred. - Experience in service
management, preferably in transit vehicle or heavy equipment
environments. - Knowledge of diesel maintenance, air conditioning,
engines, transmissions, suspension, differential, electronic controls
both A/C and D/C, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and
electronic, and minor body repair required. - Ability to interact well
with all levels of the organization and representatives of various
outside organizations and able to motivate and lead team members. -
Possess an Underground Storage Tank license class A. - Possess a
Universal Refrigeration License. - Demonstrate working knowledge of
modern office computer systems, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and
other maintenance related software programs. - Have reliable
transportation both to and from work. - Have knowledge of, and adhere
to, all traffic rules and regulations. - Demonstrate the ability to
multitask either by working with others or solo. - Complete accurate,
legible, and factual written reports. - Possess or be able to obtain a
valid Bus Operators License issued by the Massachusetts Department of
Public Utilities (DPU). Licensing This position requires a CDL Class B
with Air Brakes and Passenger endorsements. Qualified applicants must be
eligible to be insured under Berkshire Transit Management, Inc.\'s

commercial driver\'s licensing and are required to obtain and maintain a
