Elementary Teacher (Kindergarten–8th Grade)
Location: Berkeley Preparatory Academy
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Principal
Position Overview:
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in grades K–5. This role involves planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.
- Assess student performance and provide feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices.
- Uphold school policies and procedures.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- Valid South Carolina teaching certification preferred.
- Knowledge of elementary education best practices.
- Strong classroom management skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
