The Quality Manager Position purpose is to lead, manage, and continuously improve the Quality Assurance function at the Bericap production site. This role ensures compliance with internal policies, industry standards (SQF, HACCP, ISO), and customer requirements, ultimately aiming to minimize defects, resolve complaints, and drive continuous quality improvement. The Quality Manager will lead and motivate the QA team to drive corrective action processes, manage customer and supplier complaints to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
1.1 Quality Assurance Plant Leadership
· Act as the Site Quality Management Representative
· Ensure that production is compliant to product quality specifications
· As a designated SQF Practitioner & HACCP Coordinator responsible for taking the lead of SQF implementation at the Plant level
· Lead ISO Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standard compliance
· Lead site contact for customer and supplier quality issues
1.2 Personnel management
· Ensure all work is carried out safely and without injury
· Supervise and administer the Quality staff and Quality Lab
· Ensure quality, food safety, GMP and all Company policies and procedures are followed
· Together with direct reports, develop training plans and implement them on a timely schedule
· Chair employee quality improvement teams as required
· Perform employee performance reviews
1.3 Quality Audits
· Lead, plan and execute ISO9001, 14001, 45001 & SQF internal audits
· Lead ISO9001, 14001, 45001, SQF 3rd party & customer audits
· Perform external warehouse and customer site audits when required
· Ensure quality standards are established, understood and incorporated into all manufacturing practices
· Develop and implement systems and procedures to aid in the detection of quality problems
1.4 Quality Lab Management
· Manage and prioritize laboratory testing
· Develop test plans for first off, daily production and qualification testing
· Develop (through Technical Services) and implement test procedures
· Maintain and update quality documents in line with Bericap technical centers
· Statistical review and detailed analysis of QA measurement data and frequencies, to assist in capability studies and to make recommendations for improvements
· Establish qualification for all new and existing product specifications and standards
· Provide deviation request to Director of Quality and Compliance or specification change requests to Bericap Group Quality
1.5 Complaint management
· Act as the internal and external customer liaison for quality issues
· Monitor customer complaints, develop and implement Corrective Action Plans with cross functional team
· Perform investigation and provide disposition decision on internal holds
· Travel to local customers or warehouses when required
· Manage supplier quality issues and provide report to materials and procurement department
· Meet with Suppliers to address quality complaints and develop product quality improvement plans
· Investigate and document customer complaints resulting in corrective actions
· Monthly Hold Reporting and prioritizing of required Corrective Actions
· Promote employee Quality awareness through posting of holds, customer complaints and CAPA reports in communication meetings
1.6 Group CAPA & Standards
· Execute Group CAPA on site as developed by Bericap Group Quality
· Ensure new equipment & testing standards are implemented related to Quality as developed by Bericap Group Quality
2.0 Skills
· Good communication skills with all internal departments and with customers and suppliers
· Demonstrated experience/knowledge of quality systems such as ISO, SQF
· Analytical & problem-solving skills
· Ability to develop and implement quality programs and systems
· Supervisory skills
· Facilitating and coaching skills
1.0 Education
· University Degree or college diploma in Quality Assurance or related field
· HACCP, SQF, ISO and Internal Auditing certification are preferable
2.0 Experience
· 5 years minimum experience in a Quality Assurance department
· 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory position
· Knowledge of quality, food safety, environmental systems, e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & SQF
3.0 Reporting Structure
· Position reports directly to the Site Director
· Position reports indirectly to Director of Quality and Compliance
