Role: Production Manager

Location: Remote (Washington, DC preferred)

Salary: $70,000/year


Bergmann Zwerdling Direct (BZD), a top Democratic direct mail firm working with campaigns

from coast to coast at all levels of the ballot, is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Production

Manager to manage mail production and maintain vendor relationships.


From frontline congressional races and competitive statewides to legislative caucuses and large

independent expenditure programs, BZD helps candidates, officeholders, and organizations

develop compelling messaging and award-winning creative that wins campaigns. Production

Managers are key positions handling the day-to-day objectives of a portion of the firm's mailing

projects.


This role works closely with partners, associates, operations, and the rest of the production staff

to complete print orders correctly and within the requested timeframe, manage producing

high-quality mail pieces and collateral, and ensure accurate pricing and delivery. This position

will require quick responses for sending and receiving art to printers which may result in evening

and weekend hours in the months prior to Election Day. The Production Manager will be part of

a team of 3-4 and report directly to the Production Director.


This is a full-time seasonal position. Some evening and weekend availability will be

required during peak times. While some BZD employees work remotely, preference may

be given to candidates able to work from our Washington, DC area office.


About the Role

● Project management of internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and

schedules are met

● Work closely with campaign associates to ensure all information regarding mail and seed

list processing/print and mail quantities are up to date and accurate

● Manage outside vendors (union printers, mail shops, etc.) and work with different teams

to manage direct mail campaigns, campaign collateral, and volunteer literature

● Approve printer invoices and inspect postage documentation for accuracy

● Communicate printing, production issues, or deadline adjustments to the Production

Director with strategic solutions

● Keep the workflow efficient, ensuring the appropriate order of tasks are being

accomplished by vendors under tight deadline requirements


About You


● 2 years of production, traffic, or project management experience

● Experience managing offset and digital printing, with a basic knowledge of paper stocks,

the overall printing processes, and mail housing

● Attention to detail with exceptional organizational and planning skills

● Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands

● Ability to work in an environment with changing demands and frequent interruptions

● Clear, empathetic communicator comfortable navigating time-sensitive and sensitive

conversations

● Comfortable working across software tools and platforms including Wrike, Google

Workspace, Slack, Excel, and shared calendars

● Ability to balance business needs with team sustainability and morale

● Willingness to work flexible and long hours during high-volume periods to meet critical

deadlines

● A general comfort level with the objectives of the firm’s clients


Salary

● Starts at a $70,000 annual rate (commensurate with experience and skills)

● Potential for end of cycle bonus


Term

● This is a cycle position with employment guaranteed through November 30, 2026
