What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Inspector position at Bergmann Associates?
Bergmann is looking for a Construction Inspector with great communication skills who enjoys working outdoors with others to join our team!
What You’ll Do: Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
Who We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate must enjoy working with teams, be able and willing to work outdoors on a project site for extended periods of time, and have great communication skills. Attention to detail is a must for this position! All candidates must have a valid Driver’s License and at least a NICET II (or Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering).
Expertise in federally-aided, transportation projects as a Construction Inspector is helpful in this role. Experience with contractors for highway, traffic signal and pavement installation for NYSDOT or locally-administered projects is highly preferred. Experience working with/for clients like NYSDOT and/or Municipal clients and a technical knowledge of general and highway construction is ideal.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

· Comfortable with using computers and adapting to softwares
· Experience working with DOT or Local Agency experience is a must
· Team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others
· Strong mathematics skills
· Ability to work outdoors, on job sites, for extended periods of time
· Appia and/or CEES Experience
· Familiarity with NYSDOT's Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK)
The Construction Inspector Also:
· Responsible for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway construction projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches
· Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
· Insures work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications
· Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisions.
· Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project
· Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
