Position Overview
Lower school teachers lead classes of approximately 16 students (early childhood classrooms have 2 teachers for 18 students), building strong relationships and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Teachers participate in division meetings, collaborate across departments, and bring all students to high levels of achievement while fostering personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inquiry-based, differentiated instruction aligned with division curricula
- Maintain a positive classroom environment and support student learning
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Utilize specialists and resources to enhance student outcomes
- Contribute to school culture and participate in school events
- Perform duties such as lunch/recess supervision and carline support
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Hold at minimum a bachelor's degree in education
- Have experience planning and facilitating differentiated instruction
- Collaborate flexibly with teaching colleagues
- Foster a classroom environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, make mistakes, and be curious
- Design creative ways to make learning visible
- Prioritize partnerships with students, colleagues, and families
- Communicate effectively and thoughtfully in both written and verbal form
- Find joy engaging with learners of all ages and their families
- Desire an environment that challenges, supports, and expects each member of the community to reach their potential - this includes students and teachers
