The Opportunity
Are you a CAD professional who is tired of just "drawing lines" and ready to work with cutting-edge geospatial data? Berding Surveying, Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our team.
We aren't just doing traditional boundary work; we are leaders in 3D Laser Scanning and UAV Photogrammetry. You will work directly under a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to transform complex field data into high-precision deliverables for the design, legal, and construction communities.
What You’ll Do
- Data Transformation: Process field data into professional deliverables, including Topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, Boundary, and As-Built surveys.
- Advanced Modeling: Move beyond 2D by processing and modeling from 3D Laser Scan data and UAV drone surveys.
- Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret construction plans to generate precise field layout data.
- Research: Dive into legal and survey records to uncover property boundary information.
- Collaboration: Work in a flexible, fast-paced environment where your input on "better ways to do things" is valued.
What You Bring to the Table
- CAD Proficiency: Strong experience in AutoCAD is required. If you know Carlson, Geopak, or Microstation, that’s a huge plus.
- The "Spatial" Brain: An ability to visualize 3D environments from 2D data. Experience with Revit or point cloud modeling is a major advantage.
- Sector Knowledge: Previous experience in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering is preferred, especially regarding ODOT Right-of-Way plan preparation.
- The Right Mindset: You are honest, dependable, and have the "detective" mindset required for accurate boundary resolution.
- Education: An Associate degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering is a plus, but we value skill and motivation above all else. If you are a CAD natural with a strong work ethic, we want to talk to you.
