Role Overview
BEPC is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support our customer’s engineering team in Tucson, AZ.
This is a hands-on engineering position focused on the development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply broad systems engineering expertise to test method development, Design of Experiments (DoE), sensor data analysis, test bed development, risk and requirements management, and technical documentation.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of experience, demonstrated experience working with complex systems, and the ability to independently develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies. Experience within FDA- or FAA-regulated environments is highly valued, with medical device experience particularly relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced engineering principles and practices to complex systems and technical assignments.
- Participate in design concept generation, engineering reviews, system development, and testing.
- Develop comprehensive system and component testing plans.
- Develop and execute test methods to assess performance against design specifications and requirements.
- Perform Design of Experiments (DoE) and analyze resulting test data.
- Use Python to support engineering data analysis.
- Analyze digital sensor outputs and interpret system performance data.
- Design and develop test beds for complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Execute hands-on testing protocols and document results.
- Perform reliability testing and assess interactions between system components.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and determine root causes.
- Develop and evaluate engineering solutions to identified technical problems.
- Support manufacturing process development and troubleshooting activities.
- Manage engineering risks and system requirements throughout development and testing.
- Author detailed test protocols, engineering reports, and other technical documentation.
- Manage the defect lifecycle, including defect collection, documentation, tracking, and summarization.
- Communicate identified defects and technical findings to development partners.
- Exercise independent technical judgment and make engineering decisions based on test results and system requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex systems.
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical devices or systems.
- Experience with risk and requirements management.
- Strong technical writing experience, including development of test protocols and technical reports.
- Experience developing comprehensive testing plans and executing hands-on testing protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with test method development.
- Experience analyzing engineering and system performance data.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work fully onsite in Tucson, AZ.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical, Software Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Python coding experience for engineering data analysis.
- Experience analyzing digital sensor outputs.
- Test bed development experience.
- Experience with reliability testing.
- Experience managing defects throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience supporting manufacturing process development and troubleshooting.
- Experience within an FDA- or FAA-regulated environment.
- Medical device industry experience is strongly preferred.
