The Benton County Records & Elections Department is seeking a Deputy Director to join the team! 
 
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing, planning, directing, and coordinating activities in the operation and administration of the Records and Elections Department. Working in tandem with the Department Director to develop goals & strategies, revise & implement operational policies and procedures. The Deputy Director may be designated to serve in the absence of the Director.

  • Annual salary range of:
    • $101,853 to $142,594
    • This position is eligible for up to two salary raises within your first year. An Increase may be given at the end of the 6-month probationary period, depending on starting salary, and at the 1-year anniversary, as long as your performance is in good standing! Annual performance-based increases are given until the maximum of the salary range is reached.
    • Note: salary placement will be based on your level of directly related experience and education consistent with Oregon's pay equity law.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration or a field related to area of assignment; and 
  • 7 years of professional work experience related to Records, Elections or a related field requiring a strong attention to detail and legal regulations including 3 years of managerial or supervisor experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least six months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements:
  • A cover letter is required to be considered for this position.
    • Please describe how your skills and experience would enable you to succeed in the essential functions listed for this position. Also, please briefly describe your experience working independently with a complex workload. 
  • Oregon Driver's License or the ability to obtain. This position requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle. 
  • Successfully complete ballot returns signature verification training.
  • Obtain certification to assist in processing U.S. Passport Applications.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Certified Elections Administrator or Certified Records Administrator.
  • Advanced knowledge of current records management technology; public records archives standards and laws; state election and registration laws.
  • Ability to interpret and utilize related statutes; ability to plan and organize large-scale election activities.  
  • Preferred Oregon County Clerk's certification for elections and/or recording.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
