Overview
The Lead Hand – Hardscaping is responsible for overseeing daily operations on landscaping and hardscaping projects, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards. This role involves supervising crew members, coordinating tasks, and actively participating in the installation of hardscape features such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor structures.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a crew of laborers on hardscaping projects
- Plan, assign, and coordinate daily tasks to meet project timelines
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications
- Perform hands-on work including:
- Paver and stone installation
- Retaining wall construction
- Grading, leveling, and site preparation
- Concrete and masonry work
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and client expectations
- Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques and safety procedures
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment (e.g., skid steers, compactors, saws)
- Monitor job site safety and enforce safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members
- Track materials, tools, and labor progress on-site
- Troubleshoot issues and make on-the-spot decisions to keep projects moving
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in hardscaping or landscaping construction
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of hardscape materials and installation techniques
- Ability to read blueprints and project layouts
- Experience operating landscaping and construction equipment
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials (50 lbs) and performing manual labor
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
