Position Overview
At Bent Tree, our Starter/Ranger plays a key role in creating a welcoming, well-paced, and enjoyable experience for every member and guest. This position is both the first impression and the steady presence on the course—ensuring smooth tee times, strong pace of play, and a course that reflects the pride we take in our community.This is a highly visible, people-focused role. You’ll be interacting with golfers throughout the day while also helping maintain the overall flow and condition of play.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & First Impressions
- Greet members and guests at the practice facility and first tee with a friendly, helpful attitude
- Provide clear communication on course conditions, pace of play expectations, and daily operations
- Help players get started on time and set the tone for a great round
Tee Management & Pace of Play
- Manage the 1st tee (and 10th tee when applicable), ensuring groups are ready and in position at least 5 minutes prior to tee time
- Monitor the tee sheet and maintain proper starting order
- Proactively manage pace of play across the course in a professional and respectful manner
- Communicate with the golf shop regarding delays, issues, or adjustments needed
On-Course Presence
- Patrol the golf course regularly to assist players and maintain flow
- Support slower groups while keeping the overall pace consistent with Bent Tree standards
- Observe course conditions and report any concerns
Course Care & Standards
- Encourage and model proper course etiquette (divot repair, ball marks, bunker raking)
- Pick up debris and help maintain a clean, well-kept course environment
- Refill divot mix bottles and check on course supply stations as needed
Operations Support
- Keep the starter area and practice facility clean and organized
- Provide scorecards, pencils, and basic player needs
- Assist with tournaments, outings, and community golf events
- Support the beverage cart and other golf operations when needed
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
- Work a flexible schedule based on golf activity, including weekends and peak times
- Follow all Bent Tree policies and safety standards
Supportive Functions
- Communicate regularly with the Golf Shop and Cart Barn
- Assist with staging carts and player flow when needed
- Help members and guests with general needs throughout their round
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Organized and able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
- Positive, team-oriented attitude

Pay: $10.00 - $13.50 per hour
