Bennett Thrasher is seeking Financial Reporting & Assurance Services (Audit) Staff candidates. As an Audit Staff you will be working as part of a team and utilizing resources to add value to clients, a staff helps to perform the detailed work of an audit by assisting with all stages of the engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
- Works effectively in teams to provide quality service to clients
- Gains a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes and business objectives (including key risk areas), and utilizes that knowledge throughout engagements
- Communicates professionally (both verbally and electronically) with clients under the supervision of second year staff and seniors
- Demonstrates knowledge of accounting and auditing standards/theory
- Develops an understanding of BT’s Audit Approach and its applicability to assigned sections (including completion of audit programs as directed by supervisors)
- Clearly and adequately documents working papers
- Reviews data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income and expenditures in completing assigned sections
- Develops and performs effective analytical procedures on account balances and relates such outcomes to other assigned areas, where applicable
- Demonstrates effective use of current technology and software, including researching technical issues utilizing Accounting Research Manager
- Contributes and supports new ideas on internal processes and client engagements
- Works with members of the engagement team to identify and resolve any client issues discovered during engagements
- Maintains open communication with engagement management regarding the progress of completion on projects
- Executes feedback to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts
- Plans and performs operational and financial audits to ensure that financial statements are fairly presented in accordance with GAAP utilizing firm audit approach
- Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities
- Takes ownership of assigned areas even after rolling onto other engagements.
- Manages time effectively by completing projects within communicated budget/deadlines
- Undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred (150 hour requirement threshold should be satisfied or a specific plan in place)
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
- Time management and organizational skills
