Rigger – Heavy Lift & Specialized Transport
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Riggers to support heavy lift, crane, and specialized transport operations on industrial construction projects nationwide. This role is responsible for safely preparing, attaching, guiding, and securing heavy equipment and structural components in accordance with engineered lift plans and strict safety standards. This is a temporary position.
Projects may include nuclear facilities, data centers, wind farms, heavy industrial plants, manufacturing sites, and other critical infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute rigging operations in accordance with engineered lift plans and crane load charts.
- Inspect and verify all rigging gear prior to use in compliance with applicable standards.
- Determine proper sling configurations, confirm load weight, and account for center of gravity.
- Communicate clearly with crane operators using standard hand signals and radio protocols.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of crawler cranes, superlift systems, and specialty lifting equipment.
- Perform load securement and preparation for heavy haul and specialized transport.
- Safely maneuver suspended loads around structures, equipment, and live operating environments.
- Maintain strict adherence to site safety procedures and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
Decision Responsibility
Responsible for determining proper rigging methods, verifying equipment integrity, ensuring load stability, and stopping work if conditions deviate from approved lift plans or established safety standards.
Qualifications:Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of industrial rigging experience required.
- Experience supporting crane operations in heavy industrial, nuclear, data center, or wind environments preferred.
- NCCCO, NCCER, EPRI, or similar certifications highly recommended; extensive verifiable field experience may be considered in lieu of formal certification.
- Strong understanding of load dynamics, sling angles, and safe lift execution.
- Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must pass drug screening and physical examination.
Work Schedule & Travel
Position may be part-time, full-time, or project-dependent based on operational needs.
Project schedules may include extended hours, weekends, outage work, and mobilizations on short notice.
Travel is required. Per diem and travel expenses are provided for qualifying projects.
