Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our educational team. In this vital role, you will serve as a key advocate for students’ social, emotional, and behavioral well-being, ensuring they have the support needed to succeed academically and personally. You will collaborate closely with teachers, families, administrators, and community agencies to develop comprehensive strategies that promote positive student outcomes. Your expertise in crisis intervention, behavioral health, and child welfare will help create a safe and inclusive school environment where every student can thrive.
Duties
- Conduct thorough assessments of students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs to inform intervention strategies.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on mental health, behavioral management, conflict resolution, and cultural diversity counseling.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) that address diverse student needs.
- Coordinate with child protective services and child welfare agencies to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans to respond effectively to emergencies or behavioral crises.
- Facilitate communication between families and school personnel to support student success and address family concerns.
- Assist students with disabilities by integrating special education services into their social-emotional support plans.
- Maintain detailed records of interventions, case notes, and compliance documentation in accordance with educational regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or certification in school social work or clinical social work as required by state law.
- Proven experience working with children in educational or clinical settings, including familiarity with special education processes.
- Strong knowledge of child protective services procedures, child welfare policies, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Expertise in behavioral health, mental health care, conflict management, and crisis management strategies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, families, community agencies, and other professionals for comprehensive student support.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and implementing culturally responsive counseling practices.
- Knowledge of educational compliance standards and regulations related to student services.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and families from varied backgrounds.
