Paraeducator, Benhaven School

Benhaven School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Paraeducators. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to students and teachers in the classroom to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Status: Full-time

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:30pm

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, year-round position.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities
• Work with individual students or small groups to provide additional support and guidance
• Help to manage student behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
• Provide assistance with classroom materials and resources, such as organizing materials and setting up equipment
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to meet the individual needs of students
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and performance
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in education and special education best practices
• Cross-training with residential to accommodate transportation needs
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Requires ability to obtain an A-Endorsement driver's license (must possess a driver's license for 3 years to obtain an A-Endorsement)
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but will train the right candidate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and teachers
• Willingness to undergo a background check and comply with school policies and procedures
