Overview
Our direct client is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to support day-to-day IT operations and end-user environments. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity designed for someone early in their IT career who is eager to learn, take ownership, and grow within a collaborative team.
You ll play a key role in ensuring employees have reliable, functional technology while gaining hands-on experience across desktop support and basic systems administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision and manage user accounts, including onboarding and access support
- Provide hands-on desktop support for hardware, software, and user environments
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot printers and peripheral devices
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues independently across workstations and systems
- Ensure all end-user systems are fully operational and properly configured
- Maintain and update technical documentation for processes and issue resolution
- Support general IT operations, including equipment setup, replacement, and maintenance
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in desktop support or IT support roles
- Experience working with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow or similar)
- Strong foundational knowledge of Windows environments and end-user systems
- Proven ability to troubleshoot issues independently and follow through to resolution
- Self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
- Strong documentation skills with attention to clarity and detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Active Directory (user provisioning, password resets, group management)
- Exposure to basic systems administration or IT infrastructure concepts
Work Environment
- Fully onsite role (5 days/week) in Hampton, VA
