Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed construction estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements using tools like Bluebeam and HeavyBid software.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
- Develop comprehensive cost control strategies to monitor project budgets and identify potential savings or overruns early on.
- Review and interpret construction contracts, ensuring all scope of work, timelines, and budget considerations are clearly understood and incorporated into estimates.
- Coordinate with project management teams to align estimates with project schedules, site conditions, and resource availability.
- Assist in bid preparation by compiling accurate pricing data, labor costs, material expenses, and contingency allowances.
- Support ongoing project management efforts by providing cost updates, change order evaluations, and risk assessments throughout the construction process.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a solid understanding of construction management principles.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools; familiarity with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Hands-on construction site experience that provides practical insight into project execution and cost factors.
- Knowledge of contracts, project management practices, and cost control methodologies within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex plans and specifications accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
