What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Framework - Construction Recruiting?
Senior Estimator
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Salary: $115,000 - $130,000
We are working with a Jacksonville-based commercial general contractor to find a Senior Estimator to lead their preconstruction function. This is a recognized and growing firm in the Northeast Florida market with a pipeline that includes multifamily communities, retail centers, office, and mixed-use projects with individual contracts up to $32 million. They are known for bringing a high standard of quality and attention to detail into everything they build, and that starts in preconstruction. The Senior Estimator will own the estimating process from pursuit through award and will play a direct role in the company's continued growth. If you are a senior estimator who wants to lead a preconstruction function and do it at a firm where your work shapes the direction of the company, this is a compelling opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full estimating process for commercial and multifamily projects from early budget through final bid
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across multiple construction divisions and project types
- Solicit, receive, and level subcontractor and vendor bids to build accurate and competitive estimates
- Review drawings, specifications, and scopes to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering potential
- Prepare clear estimate narratives and present findings to ownership and clients
- Manage the preconstruction schedule and coordinate with design teams and project managers
- Maintain organized estimate files, cost databases, and historical pricing data
- Support business development efforts and assist with go/no-go decisions and pursuit strategy
What You'll Bring
- 7 or more years of experience in commercial construction estimating with demonstrated experience leading the estimating function
- Strong experience estimating multifamily, mixed-use, retail, or office projects in the Florida market
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications with confidence
- Proficiency in estimating software such as STACK, Destini, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
- Clear communication and presentation skills with comfort engaging directly with clients and ownership
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
What You'll Gain
- A salary in the $115,000 to $130,000 range based on experience
- A senior leadership role with real ownership over the preconstruction function at a growing firm
- Direct collaboration with company ownership and leadership on pursuit strategy and growth decisions
- A collaborative culture that brings a high standard of craftsmanship and quality into commercial and multifamily work
- Competitive benefits and long-term growth potential in one of Florida's most active construction markets
At Framework, we keep it simple: we connect great people with great builders. We're not just filling seats - we're helping construction professionals find real opportunities with companies that value what they bring to the table. Our candidates trust us because we're honest, we follow through, and we never push roles that aren't the right fit. We take the time to understand where you're coming from and where you want to go.
The builders we represent are more than just clients to us. Many of them are friends and longtime partners. If we wouldn't feel confident working for them ourselves, we wouldn't introduce them to the people who trust us with their careers.
On the flip side, our clients count on us to bring high-quality people who are the real deal - both in skill and character. They'll tell you we just get it. We're proud to be the kind of recruiters who do what's right, not what's easy, and we make sure it's a win for everyone involved.
