Field Service Technician

SUMMARY

We are supporting a global leader in advanced power and energy solutions that is currently expanding into the rapidly growing data center and microgrid markets. We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician with strong electromechanical troubleshooting abilities to support advanced power generation systems used in data center and microgrid applications.

This position is ideal for a hands-on technician who enjoys diagnosing complex problems, working independently in the field, and supporting innovative technology. While experience with generators or power generation equipment is beneficial, it is not required. The ability to systematically troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems is the most important qualification for success in this role.

Successful candidates may come from a variety of technical backgrounds including power generation, industrial automation, manufacturing, controls, rotating equipment, water treatment, process industries, military technical fields, or other electromechanical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain advanced electromechanical systems and power generation equipment.
• Support startup, commissioning, testing, and field deployment activities.
• Analyze electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Assist customers and internal teams with technical problem resolution.
• Maintain detailed service reports, maintenance records, and documentation.
• Order and manage repair parts as needed.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, and calibration requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on product performance.
• Adhere to all company safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach while working at customer sites.
• Assist engineers and technical teams during product evaluations, commissioning activities, and field investigations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electromechanical systems.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic computer systems.
• Ability to travel extensively as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with generators, turbines, power systems, switchgear, controls, commissioning, UPS systems, or industrial electrical equipment.
• Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Familiarity with high-voltage or high-power electrical systems.
• Previous field service or commissioning experience.
• Knowledge of arc flash safety practices and electrical safety standards.
