Role Description
The Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, financial performance, and successful completion of civil construction projects. This role ensures projects meet quality, safety, schedule, and budget expectations while serving as a primary liaison between field operations, owners, engineers, and internal leadership. Frequent travel is required for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and execute civil construction projects in alignment with engineering standards, project requirements, and company procedures.
- Review project designs for compliance with engineering principles, contract specifications, and company standards.
- Coordinate with field leadership to resolve plan discrepancies and ensure accurate execution.
- Serve as the final decision‑maker on project plan interpretation, implementation, and field coordination, escalating critical issues when necessary.
- Determine project staffing needs and allocate resources accordingly.
- Approve superintendent equipment requests, personnel changes, and requisitions.
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets to achieve required margins.
- Oversee accurate weekly labor and equipment reporting and ensure timely monthly cost reporting.
- Prepare and maintain financial projections, including cost forecasts, income projections, and payment requisitions.
- Monitor the project schedule, key milestones, and factors affecting progress, addressing delays and communicating impacts per contract requirements.
- Uphold safety expectations and reinforce a strong safety culture across all project activities.
- Liaise with governmental agencies, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance and effective coordination.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering and project management.
- Demonstrated experience in Heavy Civil Construction.
- Strong computer skills, including HCSS – Heavy Bid Experience, HCSS - Heavy Job or Other Project Management Software.
- Scheduling Software - Microsoft Projects, P6
- Must have Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Bluebeam experience
- AutoCAD experience a plus
- Topcon GPS experience a plus
