Job Summary
Our company is looking for a Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all financial strategies, planning, and operations for our growing construction organization. The Controller will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing financial oversight, driving profitability, and ensuring strong fiscal stewardship across all projects and business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting — Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Job Cost Accounting — Oversee job cost tracking, WIP schedules, cost‑to‑complete analysis, and margin reporting.
- General Ledger Oversight — Manage GL integrity, reconciliations, journal entries, and month‑end close.
- Budgeting & Forecasting — Support annual budgets, cash‑flow forecasting, and financial planning.
- AP/AR Management — Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and collections.
- Payroll Coordination — Ensure accurate payroll processing, labor allocation, and compliance with wage laws.
- Internal Controls — Maintain strong financial controls, policies, and audit readiness.
- Compliance — Ensure adherence to federal/state regulations, insurance requirements, and construction‑specific financial standards.
- Systems & Process Improvement — Optimize accounting workflows, software utilization, and reporting efficiency.
- Team Leadership — Supervise accounting staff and support cross‑department collaboration.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA preferred).
- 5-7 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction, contracting, or project‑based industries.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., ComputerEase, HeavyJobs).
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, billing structures, and construction financial cycles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
