Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Navigator to play a vital role in connecting individuals and families with stable, affordable housing options. This energetic professional will serve as a guiding resource, helping clients navigate complex housing systems, access supportive services, and overcome barriers to secure and maintain housing stability. Duties
- Assist clients in understanding and accessing various housing programs, including Section 8 and other subsidized housing options
- Provide personalized support through crisis intervention and motivational interviewing to empower clients toward sustainable housing solutions
- Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords, property management companies, and housing authorities to negotiate lease terms and resolve disputes
- Educate clients about Fair Housing regulations, landlord-tenant law, and tenant rights to promote informed decision-making
- Maintain accurate records using property management software , documenting client interactions and case progress
- Collaborate with social workers, addiction counselors, and other service providers to address underlying issues affecting housing stability
- Conduct outreach to landlords and property owners to foster partnerships that expand affordable housing opportunities
- Respond swiftly to crises related to homelessness or eviction threats with effective crisis management strategies
Qualifications
- Proven experience in social work, housing navigation, or related fields with a strong understanding of LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs and Section 8 policies
- Knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, and property management practices
- Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention techniques
- Familiarity with addiction counseling principles and crisis management protocols
- Proficiency in property management software is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate clients through motivational interviewing methods
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- Knowledge of Section 8 voucher programs, crisis intervention strategies, and social work best practices
