Occupational Summary: The Residence Life Coordinator at Beloit College plays a vital role in shaping the student experience by fostering inclusive, connected, and vibrant residential communities. This position provides leadership and direct support to a team of 15–17 Resident Assistants (RAs) across a cluster of residence halls or houses, helping to build strong peer networks and a sense of belonging.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and mentoring RA staff to create a collaborative and supportive team culture

• Cultivating inclusive residential environments that promote student well-being and engagement
• Responding to student conduct concerns and supporting crisis management efforts
• Guiding RA-led educational, diversity, and community-building programs
• Managing budgets and resources to support hall initiatives
• Participating in the on-call rotation and providing leadership during campus emergencies

In addition, the Residence Life Coordinator partners closely with all campus departments to enhance student involvement in campus events, organizations, and cherished Beloit traditions - helping students connect, lead, and thrive beyond the residence halls.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:General Responsibilities

• Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with the Director of Residential Life, fellow Residence Life Coordinators, and other Student Life and campus colleagues.
• Maintain consistent communication with supervisor and Residence Life staff through weekly meetings and ongoing updates regarding successes, concerns, and campus developments. Promptly report critical or emergency situations.
• Serve as an active member of the Dean of Students team, contributing to student services initiatives, participating in on-call duty rotations, and supporting programs that promote an anti-racist and inclusive campus environment.
• Provide guidance and support to students on personal and campus-related matters, foster meaningful connections, and assist students in crisis by referring them to appropriate professional resources.
• Engage in campus life and professional development opportunities, including staff training, conferences, and other assigned activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the department and college.

Residential Life Responsibilities

• Oversee a designated cluster of residence halls or houses and provide direct support to the Resident Assistant (RA) team within that area.
• Collaborate with RAs to create inclusive, welcoming residential communities that support students' academic success and personal growth.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with all RAs, with particular focus on those in the assigned area.
• Lead and participate in regular staff meetings, coordinating complex meetings in partnership with Head RAs.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of RA staff.
• Provide leadership for special projects, educational initiatives, and ongoing RA development.
• Support RAs in their roles as peer counselors and community educators, offering guidance and resources to help them navigate challenges and uphold community standards.

Operational and Staff Support Responsibilities

• Builds collaborative working relationships with key campus partners, including housekeeping, food service, maintenance, and campus security.
• Assists with residence hall opening and closing procedures, ensuring smooth transitions for students.
• Plays an active role in the Residential Life staff selection and training processes, contributing to a strong and inclusive team culture.
• Meets biweekly with each Resident Assistant (RA) and weekly with each Head RA in the assigned residential area to provide guidance, support, and feedback.
• Holds weekly meetings with the Director of Residential Life to review progress, address concerns, and strategize around student support and programming.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of Residential Life and Student Affairs.

Additional Leadership Opportunities

In addition to their core responsibilities within the residential complex, Residence Life Coordinators contribute to campus-wide initiatives through a collateral assignment. These assignments provide opportunities for specialized leadership and collaboration in areas such as:
