Role Summary:
Creative
Beloit Athletics is looking for a talented and enthusiastic student photographer and videographer to capture high-quality, engaging visual content of our athletic teams, student-athletes, and game-day atmosphere. This role is integral to promoting our athletic programs and telling the stories of our student-athletes across various platforms, including social media, our website, and promotional materials. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a passion for sports and a keen eye for capturing compelling moments.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend and capture high-quality photos and videos of assigned home sporting events.
Shoot and edit video content, including game highlights, hype videos, student-athlete features, and social media content.
Edit and retouch photos to ensure they are visually appealing and meet brand standards.
Organize and maintain a digital asset library of photos and videos for easy access and retrieval by athletic department staff.
Provide a quick turnaround of images and videos for in-game social media updates and post-game coverage.
Collaborate with the athletic communications and marketing staff to brainstorm and execute creative content ideas.
Ensure all content aligns with the university’s brand guidelines and messaging.
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in sports photography and videography.
Credentials and Experience:
Currently enrolled as a student at Beloit College
Demonstrated experience in photography and videography, preferably in a sports setting. A portfolio of work is required.
Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and various lenses.
Experience with video and photo editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
Strong understanding of camera settings, lighting, and composition
Creative mindset with a passion for visual storytelling and sports.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to cover games and events.
Access to personal photography and videography equipment is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of all 19-varsity sports, to ensure the right moments are captured.
Examples:
Proven ability to shoot and edit compelling video content, such as game highlights or student-athlete features, that aligns with the university’s brand standards and is optimized for social media platforms.
Demonstrated capacity to organize and maintain a large digital library of photos and videos, ensuring that assets are easily accessible for the athletic department staff.
Experience in collaborating with a team to develop creative concepts for athletic promotions and storytelling.
A strong understanding of various sports, enabling the capture of key plays and emotionally significant moments during athletic events.
Ability to efficiently edit and deliver high-quality photos and videos under tight deadlines for immediate use on social media during and after games.
Skill in using DSLR or mirrorless cameras with various lenses to produce professional-quality images and videos in a fast-paced live sports environment.
