What are the responsibilities and job description for the Records Assistant position at Belmont County Records?
Will aid in the ongoing operation of the Belmont County Records Center and Archives. The individual will help the Records Manager and staff with the organization, inventorying, and digitization of records; will assist in the destruction of records once they have met their retention; will help with the lifting and moving of records boxes and bags that can weigh anywhere from 25-50lbs or more; and will assist in the retrieval of records and filing them. Other duties may be assigned.
Will learn about the Ohio Sunshine Laws, the county’s retention schedules and policies, as well as the Records Center and Archives’ policies, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
- Some college education preferred.
- 1-2 years office or business experience.
- Ability to preserve the confidentiality of information.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to pass a filing test, numerical and alphabetical.
- Ability to perform routine clerical duties such as typing and filing.
- Ability to learn to operate and maintain scanning equipment.
- Good organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
- Occasionally will bend, squat, crouch and/or kneel.
- Will be reaching above themselves to remove or place boxes of records.
- Will also be required to ascend and descend stairs, sometimes with records.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and move boxes and/or bags of records that weigh anywhere from 25 to 50 lbs. or more.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $13.91 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 29 per week
