Position Summary

The Bar Supervisor & Lead Mixologist is responsible for leading the daily operations of the bar while delivering an exceptional guest experience that reflects Dear Dad's commitment to elevated hospitality. This role combines leadership, inventory management, beverage program development, and hands-on service. The ideal candidate is passionate about cocktails, wine, and guest engagement, while maintaining high operational standards and supporting the growth of the bar team.

Essential ResponsibilitiesBar Operations

  • Supervise daily bar operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and consistency.
  • Lead bartenders and bar support staff during service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all liquor laws, health regulations, and company policies.
  • Open and close the bar according to established procedures.

Beverage Program

  • Develop and maintain a seasonal craft cocktail program.
  • Design innovative cocktails that showcase premium ingredients while maximizing profitability.
  • Creatively utilize existing inventory to reduce waste and move slow-moving products.
  • Continuously evaluate beverage offerings and recommend additions or changes based on guest preferences and industry trends.

Inventory Management

  • Manage all bar inventory, including liquor, beer, mixers, syrups, garnishes, and supplies.
  • Oversee wine inventory and maintain accurate counts.
  • Perform regular inventory audits and reconcile variances.
  • Monitor pour costs and beverage costs to meet profitability goals.
  • Place beverage orders and coordinate deliveries with approved vendors.
  • Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

Wine & Beverage Knowledge

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Preferred qualification: Level 1 Sommelier Certification or equivalent wine education.
  • Educate team members on beverage offerings, tasting notes, pairings, and service standards.
  • Assist guests with wine selections and food pairings to enhance their dining experience.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and create memorable experiences.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Promote premium beverages and suggest pairings that enhance the guest experience.

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and daily reconciliation.
  • Balance cash drawers and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Monitor beverage sales and identify opportunities to improve revenue.
  • Assist management with budgeting, beverage costing, and menu pricing.

Leadership

  • Train, mentor, and coach bartenders and bar support staff.
  • Ensure all team members follow company standards and recipes.
  • Conduct ongoing beverage education and product tastings.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
  • Assist management with scheduling and performance feedback as needed.

QualificationsRequired

  • Minimum of 3 years of bartending experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar.
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
  • Experience with inventory management and beverage cost control.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred

  • Level 1 Sommelier Certification or higher.
  • Experience in an upscale dining environment
  • Experience creating seasonal cocktail menus.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage pairing.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and inventory software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, reach, and move throughout the bar area.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $33.00 per hour
