What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client Marketing Director position at Bellrae Marketing?
About Bellrae Marketing
Bellrae Marketing is a strategy-led marketing agency that serves as an outsourced marketing department for established, growth-minded businesses.
We bring strategy and execution together across SEO, social media, content, email marketing, paid media, and websites to build connected marketing systems designed to drive meaningful business results.
We're increasingly focused on the home and design industry, including design build firms, custom home builders, remodelers, interior design brands, and other established businesses where trust, expertise, visibility, and a healthy pipeline are critical to growth.
About the Role
As a Client Marketing Director, you are the client's senior marketing leader and report directly to Bellrae's COO.
You will work directly with founders and business leaders, lead their marketing strategy and plan, and serve as their primary point of contact at Bellrae. Behind you is a team of specialists across SEO, social media, email, content, paid media, and web. You will stay close to the work. You'll review deliverables, analyze performance, provide feedback, solve problems, communicate with clients, collaborate with specialists, and step in wherever your judgment and expertise are needed to keep the account moving forward.
You deeply understand your clients, their businesses, their clients, their goals, and what they're trying to accomplish. You connect the dots across marketing channels, provide clear direction to the team, review the work being produced, interpret performance, and continually determine what should happen next.
This is a role for someone who thinks two steps ahead. You don't wait to be told what to do. You notice the opportunity, identify the problem, ask the right questions, and move things forward.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior marketing leader and primary point of contact for a select portfolio of clients
- Build strong relationships with founders, CEOs, and key client stakeholders
- Deeply understand each client's business, goals, audience, sales process, pipeline, priorities, challenges, and competitive landscape
- Guide the overarching marketing strategy and plan
- Translate business goals into clear marketing priorities and direction for the team
- Lead client meetings with confidence, sound judgment, and a clear point of view
- Review reporting and analytics, identify what matters, and determine what should happen next
- Review client deliverables before they are presented or published, including social media content, emails, blogs, messaging, and campaigns
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to specialists and implementation team members
- Ensure SEO, social media, email, content, paid media, and web efforts work together toward the client's larger goals
- Stay ahead of client needs, opportunities, risks, and potential problems
- Maintain visibility into active work and ensure strategy makes its way into execution
- Communicate proactively with clients and the internal team
- Continually ask: What does this client need next?
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced, well-rounded marketer with the judgment and confidence to lead both clients and a multidisciplinary marketing team.
You should:
- Have an “everything is figureoutable” mindset and naturally look for the path forward
- Use discernment to understand the difference between what a client says and what they actually need
- Have 10 years of marketing experience
- Have strong integrated marketing knowledge across SEO, social media, email marketing, content, websites, paid media, and analytics
- Understand SEO fundamentals and current best practices
- Keep your finger on the pulse of social media and understand what makes content capture attention and move people to action
- Have exceptional messaging instincts and a strong understanding of email marketing best practices
- Be able to interpret marketing data and turn it into meaningful recommendations
- Be an excellent, confident communicator who can lead a room
- Have strong marketing judgment and be comfortable making decisions
- Be highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities
- Think quickly and confidently on your feet
- Be proactive, self-directed, and comfortable taking initiative
- Be able to solve problems without needing a how-to manual
- Care deeply about knowing your clients and their businesses
- Be comfortable using project management tools; familiarity with ClickUp, Slack, and Basecamp is preferred
Agency experience is strongly preferred.
Experience in home and design, design-build, construction, luxury services, or other high-consideration service businesses is a plus.
The Person We're Looking For:
You are a people person. You genuinely enjoy getting to know clients, building relationships, understanding their businesses, and becoming someone they trust and want in the room.
You think like an owner. You don't look at an account and think, “What's on my task list?” You think, “If this were my business, what would I be paying attention to? What would concern me? Where is the opportunity? What should we be doing next?”
You're obsessed with results and helping clients win. Marketing activity for the sake of activity doesn't interest you. You want to understand whether the work is actually moving the business forward, and if it isn't, you want to figure out why and do something about it.
You think two steps ahead. You don't wait for someone to tell you what needs attention. You see it.
You have strong discernment. When a client tells you what they want, you listen carefully enough to understand what they're really saying and what the business actually needs.
You think quickly and confidently on your feet. You're comfortable leading a room, answering hard questions, making recommendations, and saying, “I don't know yet, but I'll find out,” when that's the right answer.
And above all, you know your clients. You know what they're trying to grow, what matters to them, what's happening in their pipeline, what they're worried about, what they're excited about, and where they're going because you can't lead someone's marketing without understanding their business.
Position Structure
This is a part-time independent contractor role starting at $45-$50/hour.
Client Marketing Directors are assigned a select portfolio of accounts based on experience, capacity, and account complexity. We intentionally keep portfolios limited so our Directors can become deeply immersed in their clients' businesses and provide true senior-level marketing leadership.
You will be supported by Bellrae specialists and implementation resources across SEO, social media, email marketing, content, paid media, web, and administrative support.
Client meetings are generally recurring and scheduled well in advance. Outside of scheduled meetings, contractors have flexibility in when and where work is completed while meeting expectations for responsiveness, deadlines, communication, and quality.
What Success Looks Like
Your clients should think of you as their Marketing Director, not their contact at an outside agency.
They trust your judgment. They bring you into business conversations. They ask for your opinion. They know you're paying attention. And they feel confident that you and the Bellrae team understand where their business is going and what marketing needs to do to help them get there.
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 25.0 per week
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
Application Question(s):
- How many years of marketing experience do you have, and how many of those years have been in an agency environment?
