Material Handling and Inventory Control Specialist

Purpose

The Material Handling and Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate movement, storage, and tracking of materials and products within the facility. This role combines hands-on material handling with inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and ensure timely availability of materials for production. By adhering to company standards for safety, quality, and organization, this position helps drive operational excellence and supports the production team's needs to meet customer demands on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and unload inbound shipments, ensuring all products are accurately accounted for
• Perform regular inventory counts, update inventory logs, and address discrepancies as needed.
• Safely handle, organize, and store materials with proper labeling and categorization for easy retrieval.
• Operate sit down forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials.
• Supply materials to production areas, including loading materials into saws, nests, and other machines.
• Maintain an organized and clean area while optimizing storage space
• Collect and organize relevant paperwork, such as Purchase Orders (POs), packing slips, and delivery receipts.
• Ensure proper documentation is submitted to the office for processing and auditing purposes.
• Regularly dispose of wood scrap and other waste materials by emptying scrap bins into designated dumpsters
• Work closely with the purchasing team to identify material shortages and manage stock levels
• Other duties as assigned

Attributes / Qualifications

• Ability to accurately track and manage inventory without discrepancies.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient inventory system and prioritize tasks
• Clear & effective communication with various teams, including purchasing, production & management
• Ability to handle materials up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
• Strong awareness of safety protocols, particularly when operating material handling equipment

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1-2 Years of Material Handling experience preferred
