Job Summary
The Boys Varsity Track & Field Head Coach is expected to oversee the entire track and field program (Varsity, JV, and developmental levels) and perform the following duties: Program Leadership: Establish and implement a unified track and field philosophy across all levels of the program. Recruit, mentor, and supervise assistant coaches while fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture. Training & Athlete Development: Plan and lead effective practices focused on event-specific skill development, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and overall athletic performance. Develop training programs for sprinters, distance runners, hurdlers, jumpers, and throwers. Meet Preparation & Competition Management: Coordinate athlete entries, event assignments, and competition strategies for league, invitational, CIF, and post season meets. Ensure athletes are prepared to perform at their highest level while representing the school with integrity and sportsmanship. Administrative Oversight: Manage program equipment, uniforms, inventory, transportation requests and scheduling needs. Maintain accurate records, communicate regularly with athletes and families, and collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding program operations. Academic Monitoring: Monitor student-athlete academic progress to ensure all participants maintain CIF and District eligibility requirements. Promote academic excellence and personal responsibility among team members. Safety & Ethics: Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all student-athletes by implementing safe training practices and adhering to CIF, league, and district policies. Model exemplary sportsmanship, professionalism, and ethical conduct at all times.
