Be Great! Graduate! Overview
Our BE GREAT! Graduate! program works with teens in grades 9-12 throughout the school year and summer months to address academic achievement. Our location offers a quiet, spacious working environment to fit most studying and other academic needs. To ensure academic success, the program also offers one-on-one case management and assistance in identifying and breaking down barriers for specific youth struggling in school. Our goal is to help teens reach their full potential, ensuring they have a successful future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This is a Full-time position supervising, mentoring, and tutoring youth in grades 9-12 in our TXL building.
- Plan, develop, and implement a specific strategy to ensure the on-time graduation of a targeted group of Club members.
- Outreach to families and engage parents/guardians as active partners in the academic progress of teen members.
- Engage key school district contacts to assist with programmatic efforts and support individual families.
- Build positive relationships with select teen members, focusing on academic success and support.
- Facilitate National BGCA programs to augment and strengthen the Be Great! Graduate! Curriculum.
- Develop individualized academic progress plans for specifically selected teen members.
Resource Center Development
- Establish and build a teen resource center focused on career exploration, further educational opportunities, and resources for academic assistance.
- Recruit volunteers as tutors, mentors, special presenters, and in other roles as needed.
- Plan field trips/Club outings to showcase further academic and career opportunities.
- Coordinate transportation as needed for specific teen programs and field trips.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the Club and the Be Great! Graduate! Program in the local community, to key stakeholders, and to donors.
- Provide program reports, documentation, and evaluations as needed.
- May be required to participate in special programs and/or events.
- May be required to drive the Club van.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must have 6 months to a year of previous experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar after-school setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth, parents, and community partners.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have completed high school; some college experience preferred.
- Must pass National Background Check and Driving Record Check.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
