Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Underground Piping Lead to oversee and perform the installation of underground utility systems on excavation and construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead crews installing underground water, sewer, storm drainage, and utility piping.
- Read and interpret blueprints, utility plans, grades, and specifications.
- Ensure proper pipe alignment, elevations, bedding, backfill, and compaction requirements are met.
- Operate and work around excavation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
- Monitor crew productivity and quality of work to ensure project schedules are met.
- Perform utility locating, trench inspections, and verify compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of daily production, materials, and equipment usage.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in underground utility construction.
- Previous experience leading a utility or pipe crew preferred.
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, storm, and utility installation methods.
- Ability to read construction plans, grades, and laser levels.
- Knowledge of OSHA excavation and trench safety requirements.
- Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have sufficient mobility and dexterity to inspect work areas, measure grades, install piping components, work in confined spaces, and perform other essential job functions.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
