**Position Title: Cafeteria Worker**

- Location:** Bellefonte Area School District
- Work Day:** 4 hours/day (subject to change)
- Work Year:** 180 days/year; 9-month position; 3 paid holidays

**To operate the cafeteria register as well as assist in other cafeteria services**
**Key Responsibilities**
The Cafeteria Staff
- Operate the cash register on a daily basis, which includes identifying reimbursable meals.
- Close out the cash register at the end of each day and maintain a cash report.
- Assist in food preparation in an efficient and sanitary manner as required.
- Comply with kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
- Record and maintain check records.
- Assist with student and staff account balance notifications in accordance with board policy.
- Order food supplies on a daily/weekly basis.
- Follow the cafeteria clean-up schedule after meal service.
- Maintain cashier station cleanliness and restock.
- Follow established procedures for cash /-.
- Complete daily deposits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
- Minimum:** High School Diploma/GED
Minimum
- Prior experience in food service operations
- Familiarity with cash drawer handling and point-of-sale systems
- Six months experience as a cashier preferred
- **Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.**
- **Ability to effectively communicate to school administration, co-workers and students.**
- **Good moral character.**
- **Effective communication skills.**
- **Computer skills.**
- **Cash Register skills.**
- **Cash Handling skills.**
- **Ability to make change with American currency.**

- **Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum.**
- **Able to see with acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of at least 20 feet normal depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.**
- **Able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.**
- **The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.**
- **Requires use of both hands for repetitive motion.**
- **Able to bend and twisting of the body required.**
- **Ability to Lift/Carry/Push supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.**
- **Able to work in a kitchen environment with extreme temperatures including heat exposure due to cooking, and cold exposure due to coolers/freezers.**
- **Able to stand ninety percent (90%) of workday.**
- **The noise level in this environment is generally moderate to loud.**
