What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd shift Material Handler II position at BELL LABORATORIES and Careers?
3rd shift, Sunday - Thursday, 11:00pm-7:00am
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
1. Stock production lines to ensure uninterrupted operation. Utilize IFS reports to review and compare material requirements. Move materials from one location to another both physically and in IFS.
2. Document all moves utilizing the Material Handling barcode scan guns.
3. Ensure Production has enough materials in work centers to be able to print Handling Unit tags. Research any reports of insufficient materials utilizing IFS. Contact the Receiving Coordinator, Inventory Coordinator, Materials Shift Coordinator or Receiving Supervisor if further assistance is needed.
4. Monitor the radio for production requests. Respond promptly and professionally to requests.
5. Place WIP items in proper warehouse location. Ensure tridecka totes are nested properly. Place WIP items stored in the Receiving warehouse in PRDRET.
6. Replenish raw material stocks as necessary.
7. Must maintain 99% accuracy on all material moves.
8. Assist with removing finished goods from production area, wrapping skids and moving material to shipping transition area. Ensure Handling Unit labels are applied to the front and back of the skid on the outside of the shrink wrap.
9. Remove excess and unused materials from production area and return to the PRDRET location. Include handling unit (if known) or the production work center where the material was being used.
10. Notify Materials Shift Coordinator, Receiving Coordinator and/or Receiving Supervisor when available inventory will not completely support scheduled production.
11. Continually gain thorough knowledge of all Bell products, their related packaging, marking requirements and proper packaging procedures.
12. Perform additional tasks assigned by the Materials Shift Coordinator, Receiving Coordinator or Receiving Supervisor.
13. Maintain a neat, orderly and clean department and work environment.
14. Be familiar with and follow safety rules and procedures including safety wear and emergency procedures.
15. Assist with the training of new personnel.
16. Perform overtime and other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: One to two years of previous warehouse manufacturing experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to read detailed instructions and keep legible and accurate receiving records is required. Basic math skills and good organizational skills required. Good verbal communication skills are required. Frequent contacts and discussions are required with all levels of management, employees and outside suppliers. Flexibility, diplomacy and initiative are necessary. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Must have a good driving record (a Motor Vehicle Record, MVR, search will be conducted).
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Forklift, pallet-jacks (manual and electric), cardboard and trash compactor, bailer, pick up and straight truck, loading dock lifts, and scales.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently/100 pounds occasionally is required.
