What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd shift Production Supervisor position at BELL LABORATORIES and Careers?
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 3:00pm - 11:00pm
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
1. Supervise all production personnel, including: Shift Coordinators, Plastic Inspectors, Operators, Formulators, Assembly Inspectors and Packers. This also includes indirect supervision of Receiving, QA, Maintenance and Trainers.
2. Ensure efficient daily operation of all manufacturing activities.
3. Ensure adherence to manufacturing specifications and output expectations. Ensure finished product meets all quality standards.
4. Ensure that new products and changes to existing products achieve desired product output and quality levels and are meeting all requirements.
5. Suggest/lead productivity and quality improvements.
6. Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate and correct issues and complaints.
7. Work collaboratively with Production Manager and Human Resources to manage employee relation issues, and address, document, and resolve employee issues in a timely manner.
8. Work closely with the other Production Supervisor on your shift and provide back up in their absence.
9. Write and deliver all performance reviews in a timely manner.
10. Responsible for following internal and external hiring procedures.
11. Ensure safe working practices, enforce safety rules, and perform/request safety training as needed.
12. A minimum of one documented quality assurance round must be completed per shift. Special attention should be paid to product changeovers and items on the Hot List.
13. Notify maintenance of any production/facility issues so they can be addressed promptly.
14. Ensure housekeeping is maintained at a high level throughout the building(s).
15. Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
16. Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, such as time cards, quality records, line check records, batch sheets, output records, etc.
17. Approve time-off requests.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing/Operations Management, or related field with equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE A minimum of five to seven years of proven, successful experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of production systems and approaches. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with all types of people throughout the organization. Must be able to work cross functionally and independently. Requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, analytical and creative thinking, and ability to follow through. Must be a self-starter and able to complete projects within established deadlines. Proficiency with basic word processing and spreadsheet programs is a plus. Ability to occasionally lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED Computer and standard office equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Hand-eye coordination for typing. Ability to stand and move around in a manufacturing environment for long periods of time.
