Controller

We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting functions and support the CFO across a group of growing entities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a collaborative, high-ownership role in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You’ll supervise one Accounting Analyst and take ownership of month-end close, payroll, financial reporting, and more.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all QBO entries: accounts payable, loan interest payments, TMO transactions (payment register, NSFs, loan reconciliations), intercompany allocations, and journal entries.
• Lead full-cycle month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis across multiple entities, including perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations and depreciation/amortization schedules.
• Responsible for preparing all monthly compliance reporting for banks, lenders and securitization facility, including SEC quarterly reporting.
• Responsible for annual audit, preparing all schedules and providing all sample selections.
• Supervise Accounting Analyst on daily tasks: loan processing, disbursements, deposits, daily banking uploads and check handling.
• Process bi-weekly payroll through Netchex for 30 employees (hourly, salaried, commission). Review commissions and benefit withholdings.
• Responsible for 401k Plan relationship, including making timely deposits and annual audit.
• Responsible for annual review of all employee benefits and implementing changes when necessary.
• Maintain books for related entities.
• Assist the CFO with special projects, including annual budget, cash forecasting and regulatory exams.
• Collaborate with Servicing on TMO updates and loan modifications, balancing between systems.
• Access Salesforce to research loans
Qualifications
• 10 years of accounting experience
• Strong Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs).
• Experience with payroll processing and multi-entity accounting.
• Prior management or mentorship experience.
• Background in property tax loans, real estate, public accounting or banking is a plus.
• Comfortable with a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Salary : $120,000 - $145,000
