A well-established, highly profitable company in the Engineering Services space is conducting a search for its first Chief Financial Officer. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CEO with a clear mandate to build out the strategic finance function and support continued growth through M&A.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic financial partner to the CEO, providing analysis and recommendations to support business decisions and growth initiatives
- Own FP&A including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ROI reporting
- Lead M&A activity including deal evaluation, quality of earnings, purchase accounting, due diligence, and post-close integration
- Oversee project accounting including WIP, percentage of completion, revenue recognition, and job costing across federal and commercial contracts
- Manage treasury, cash flow planning, and risk management
- Drive ERP adoption and enhancement with a focus on project management, resource planning, and back-end reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal contracting regulations and reporting requirements
- Lead the annual budget process and ongoing financial reporting to senior leadership
Qualifications
- Proven financial leadership with a strong foundation in project accounting — WIP, revenue recognition, percentage of completion, and job costing
- M&A experience required including comfort with purchase accounting and quality of earnings
- Industry background in construction, engineering, defense contracting, or other project-based environments strongly preferred
- ERP implementation or enhancement experience a plus
- CPA, MAcc, public accounting, or PE-backed company experience preferred but not required
- Strong communicator with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach
Salary : $225,000 - $275,000
