Purpose:
The Dean of students works collaboratively with the building administration and staff. The dean is responsible for assisting the administration with student discipline, student attendance, extracurricular and student activities, campus security and other responsibilities assigned by the building administrator.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Class 2 Montana Educator License
- Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Administration Educator License or course work.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assists Administration with student discipline.
- Assists Administration with student attendance.
- Assists Administration with general supervision of students, extracurricular and student activities.
- Assists Administration with Campus security.
- Assists classroom teachers with individual students to eliminate or replace disruptive, harmful, or negative behaviors with positive actions.
- Assists building staff to implement positive reinforcement-based classroom management systems.
- Assists Administration with the supervision of facilities, school nutrition, and special education.
- Conferences with students, teachers, and parents concerning student discipline.
- Supervises detention, in-school suspension, or other programs developed for effective discipline of students.
- Performs general supervision of halls, cafeteria, parking lots, and grounds during the school day.
- Counsels and confers with students and parents of students with attendance, truancy, and tardiness.
- Works collaboratively with counselors and other personnel in the prevention of dropouts and suspensions.
- Works collaboratively with the Administration to prevent incidents against persons and property on the school campus.
- Works closely with the Administration in determining perpetrators in incidents against persons or property on school campus.
- Participates as a member of the school safety committee.
- Collects and analyzes disaggregated attendance, discipline, and graduation rate data.
- Recommends innovative approaches that encourage student attendance.
- Conferences with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and community resource personnel to recommend support for students.
- Maintains positive relationship with all stakeholders.
- Performs duties as assigned by Administrator.
