General Manager – Food & Nutrition Services

Our client is hiring a General Manager to lead all food and nutrition services operations at a respected academic medical center in Washington, DC. This role will oversee retail dining, catering, and patient meal services, while driving innovation, compliance, and team leadership in a unionized healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day operations, including patient dining, retail food, and catering services.
• Lead and develop high-performing teams within a union environment.
• Foster positive client relationships at the executive level (C-suite interaction)
• Achieve and maintain regulatory compliance, including HACCP and food safety.
• Develop and execute strategic and financial plans to drive growth and profitability.
• Ensure accurate reporting, payroll, and cash control documentation.
• Monitor and drive high-quality food and customer service standards.
  
  

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• 5 years of leadership experience in healthcare food & nutrition management
• Experience managing unionized staff
• Strong supervisory and leadership background
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills
• Proficiency in computer systems, report management, and operational tools
• Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
