Position Summar
y:
Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Machining Supervisor to lead its Machine Shop during Mid Shift. This position will provide direct leadership for CNC Machinists and machine shop personnel while ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety expectations, and customer commitments are consistently achiev
ed.
The successful candidate will oversee daily machining operations, support production scheduling, develop employees, and drive continuous improvement throughout the machine shop. This individual will serve as the primary leader during the transition between second and third shift, ensuring effective communication, operational continuity, and efficient workflow across machining operati
ons.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with experience supervising CNC machining operations within aerospace or other precision manufacturing environm
ents.
Key Responsibil
ities:
* Supervise and lead daily operations within the Machine Shop, providing leadership and direction to CNC Machinists and machine shop per
sonnel.* Ensure machining operations meet production schedules, quality requirements, and customer delivery commi
tments.* Promote a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with all company policies and manufacturing proc
edures.* Coach, mentor, and develop machinists through performance management, training, and continuous fe
edback.* Monitor machine utilization, productivity, scrap, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to maximize operational perfo
rmance.* Coordinate staffing, labor allocation, and workflow to optimize machine shop effi
ciency.* Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and eliminate bottl
enecks.* Support new product introductions, process improvements, tooling implementation, and machining best pra
ctices.* Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, and increase effi
ciency.* Ensure proper shift communication and seamless transition between second and third shift oper
ations.* Maintain accurate production reporting and performance m
etrics.
Required Qualifi
cations:* 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience within a CNC machining or precision manufacturing envi
ronment.* Strong knowledge of CNC machining operations and machine shop pr
ocesses.* Experience supervising machinists, CNC operators, or precision manufacturing pe
rsonnel.* Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and employee development
skills.* Experience managing production schedules, labor utilization, and manufacturi
ng KPIs.* Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation, machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing wo
rkflows.* Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office appli
cations.* Strong problem-solving and decision-making ab
ilities.
Preferred Qualif
ications:* Aerospace manufacturing experience highly p
referred.* Experience supervising high-mix, low-volume machining op
erations.* Familiarity with machining exotic aerospace alloys including titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, and
aluminum.* Experience supporting CNC milling, turning, Swiss machining, or multi-axis machining op
erations.* Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Continuous Improvement ex
perience.* Experience working closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to improve machining processes and reduce cyc
le times.
Education:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or another technical discipline
preferred.- Equivalent manufacturing leadership experience within machining operations will also be c
onsidered.
