What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator, 1st Shift position at Behr Paint Company?
To thrive as a Warehouse Equipment Operator, you must have a commitment to safety. You will safely operate warehouse equipment within our distribution center to load and unload products from inbound and outbound trailers or to stock and rotate inventory.
Each day, you will operate a sit-down forklift with a slip-sheet attachment, reach truck (up to 35 feet), or a rider jack to load and unload product from the dock or to restock and rotate dated product. A scanner gun or wand will be used to check shipments, identify errors or defects, and record any discrepancies. You will be responsible for rotating items by stock number and placing them on the correct shelf and in the correct aisle. In addition, routine quality inspections will be performed on inventory to report on any possible damage, shortages, or errors. Some heavy lifting is also required for this role.

Here’s what we’re looking for from you:
- A commitment to safety. We are very proud of our safety record and want you to be a part of that. You will be required to wear proper safety equipment, including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.
- Attend training. You won’t be able to operate warehouse equipment until you are fully trained. You will begin with safety training and other equipment training.
- Attention to detail. You will need to closely monitor stock numbers, identify defects in inventory, and be mindful of your surroundings when moving products.
- Diploma or GED. A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Knowledge of basic math is required.
- Some experience operating a sit-down forklift, reach truck, or rider jack is preferred.
- Warehouse Equipment Operators start at xxx/hr. Team members will receive a $1/hr increase at 6 months of employment and another $1/hr increase at one year of employment.
