About the Role:
We are seeking compassionate 1:1 Support Staff to provide direct supervision and emotional support for youth in out-of-home care in Dorchester and Caroline Counties. Based in the Cambridge area, you will work 1:1 with children and adolescents in homes, schools, and community settings. Your role will be to de-escalate conflicts, encourage positive behavior, and ensure a safe, trauma-informed environment.
This is a contract-funded position under the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS).
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Supervise and support youth on a 1:1 basis
✔️ Use crisis de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement
✔️ Assist with daily activities, behavior coaching, and emotional support
✔️ Maintain daily progress notes and documentation
✔️ Ensure youth safety and adhere to mandated reporting requirements

Requirements:
21 years old with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
High School Diploma/GED 2 years experience OR Associate’s degree 1 year in human services
Background check and fingerprinting required
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends as needed

Required Training (Upon Hire):
Preferred at hire, but required during onboarding:
CPR and First Aid- Crisis Prevention/De-escalation (CPI or equivalent)
- Mandated Reporter Training
- Trauma-Informed Care
- HIPAA / Confidentiality Awareness
- DHS-specific onboarding
Training reimbursement or support available.
Ongoing Training Requirement:
Staff are required to complete two (2) in-service trainings annually, such as:
Child Safety- Executive Skills Coaching
- Youth Engagement Strategies
- Advanced De-escalation Techniques
