About the Role:
Wise Minds Therapeutic Services is seeking compassionate 1:1 Support Staff to work with youth in out-of-home care across Allegany and Garrett Counties. Based in or near Cumberland, this role involves traveling to homes, schools, or community-based settings to provide structured emotional support, behavioral redirection, and safety supervision.
This is a contracted role under the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS), ideal for those living in rural areas with a passion for helping youth succeed in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Supervise and support youth on a 1:1 basis
✔️ Use trauma-informed strategies to redirect behavior and de-escalate conflict
✔️ Support youth through coaching, modeling, and skill-building
✔️ Document services accurately and promptly
✔️ Maintain youth safety and comply with mandated reporting laws

Requirements:
21 years old with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
High School Diploma/GED 2 years experience OR Associate’s degree 1 year in human services
Must pass background check and fingerprinting
Willingness to travel across remote or rural communities
Flexible schedule availability

Required Training (Upon Hire):
Preferred but required after onboarding:
CPR and First Aid- Crisis Prevention & De-escalation (e.g., CPI)
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Mandated Reporter Training
- HIPAA / Confidentiality Awareness
- DHS Orientation & Policy Review
Ongoing Training Requirement:
All staff must complete two (2) in-service trainings per year, such as:
Child Safety- Youth Engagement Strategies
- Executive Skills Coaching
- Crisis Response
