Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
• Review medical documentation to assign appropriate billing codes, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes, for procedures and diagnoses.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to billing to prevent claim denials.
• Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection processes, including resubmissions and appeals.
• Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all billing information aligns with medical records and coding standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies for accurate billing.
• Stay current with evolving coding guidelines, insurance policies, and compliance regulations related to medical billing and coding.
• Generate reports on billing activities, outstanding accounts receivable, and collection efforts to support financial analysis.
• Ensure adherence to privacy laws such as HIPAA by handling all patient information confidentially and securely.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
• Proficiency in medical coding systems including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, DRG classifications, and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
• Experience in medical billing processes from claim submission to payment posting.
• Excellent understanding of insurance protocols, including verification procedures and claims follow-up.
• Skilled in medical collection techniques with a focus on resolving claim denials efficiently.
• Ability to navigate complex medical records while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations related to billing practices and patient confidentiality.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.39 per hour
