BHA is looking for a full-time, year-round Lead Therapist for our Journey Program.
JOB GOAL
The Lead Therapist is responsible for assisting the Program Director in overseeing the delivery of high-quality mental health treatment while ensuring the best practices are being employed by respective staff. The Lead Therapist will facilitate the Journey Program standards, values, and objectives to all staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide therapeutic and academic services to students.
- Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
- Document student observations/data.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, restorative, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Be responsible for equipment and materials for the program.
- Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
- Have current lesson plans and appropriate materials available for use by any substitute, if necessary.
- Work to stay current in subject and content area of instructional techniques.
- Monitor accurate & timely completion of mental health department documentation.
- Provide guidance & assistance to team members when applicable.
- Assist Program Director with interviewing candidates for therapeutic job positions.
- Assist with training of new therapists.
- Facilitate MH departmental meetings in the absence of the Program Director.
- Inspire, motivate, & provide suggestions to mental health team to reach department goals.
- Demonstrate flexibility by acting as back-up for treatment team members as needed.
- Attend periodic trainings pertinent to the mental health department and distribute relevant information to treatment team.
- Maintain excellent communication & effective working relationships with team members, students, families, and external support systems.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in a human services related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children/youth, families, and service agencies in a school setting.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Positively represent and promote BHA services to outside organizations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters, including the dissemination of information regarding program development, staffing, and billing.
- Work both independently and as a team.
- Communicate effectively utilizing both written and oral communication.
- Basic computer literacy with Microsoft/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- Effectively utilize technology for communication and reporting needs.
