Overview
The Qualified Developmental Disability Professional (QDDP) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of individualized service plans (ISPs) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The QDDP ensures services meet state regulatory requirements and person-centered goals, supports interdisciplinary teams, and provides oversight of direct support professionals to promote client independence, inclusion, and quality of life.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service and support plans (ISPs) in
collaboration with the supported person, family members, and interdisciplinary team.
- Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental
Services (DBHDS) regulations and Medicaid waiver requirements.
- Conduct monthly reviews and assessments to ensure documentation aligns with service
goals and outcomes.
- Participate in the admission, assessment, and transition planning process for new and
current clients.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary team meetings, provide clinical guidance, and monitor plan
fidelity.
- Supervise or provide guidance to direct support DSP staff; review documentation, provide
feedback, and ensure training standards are met. Perform aspects of personnel
management including assisting in the hiring, training, orientation, and guidance, and job
performance appraisal of assigned staff.
- Maintain timely, complete, and accurate records in accordance with agency policies and
licensing standards.
- Serve as a liaison with case managers, family members, and external agencies, including
between community and DBHDS/CSB attending meetings and other residential programs
and contacting parents and guardians regarding day today concerns.
- Monitor individuals for changes in behavior or condition and initiate follow up as needed
with clinical staff.
- Participate in audits, licensing visits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications – Required
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a
related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. Related experience and commitment to growth development
will be considered.
- Must meet the Virginia definition of a QDDP (formerly QMRP) as defined by DBHDS
regulations.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning, behavioral principles, and Medicaid waiver
services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Qualifications – Preferred
- Experience working in a residential, day support, or community-based IDD program.
- Working knowledge of Therap, WAMS, Connect or other electronic health record systems.
- Familiarity with Virginia regulatory standards (12VAC35105).
- Ability to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
Licensure & Background
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Must pass criminal background checks and required preemployment screenings.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Work Environment
- Office and client facing environments; occasional travel to program sites.
- May require evening or weekend hours for meetings or emergencies.

Works 32 hours per week dictated by service needs. Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm
90days probationary period
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
