What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Technician position at Beehive Academy?
The behavior technician works under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). They deliver hands-on care to help clients build social, communication, and functional skills while reducing challenging behaviors. This position is in-home or clinic-based working with children as young as 18 months old.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Client Care: Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions in homes, clinics, schools, or community settings.
- Implement Protocols: Follow individualized skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Data Collection: Accurately record behavioral data and session notes in real-time.
- Skill Building: Teach communication, play, and self-help routines through structured activities and positive reinforcement.
- Collaboration: Maintain professional communication with family members, caregivers, and the clinical supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in psychology or education preferred).
- Certification: Completion of a 40-hour training course to qualify for RBT certification.
- Soft Skills: Strong patience, empathy, active communication, and flexibility. Love of children required!
- Requirements: Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and ability to pass a background check.
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
